International Business Alliance Program Application: Please note the application has many open ended questions. We are looking for serious students who provide detailed and thoughtful answers. There is no space limit to your responses.
The single greatest accolade any student can have when applying for college is experience that sets them apart from their peers. Students who participate in the International Business Alliance Program help create a new business or expand a growing business in a developing country, helping solve local problems by working directly with developing entrepreneurs.
Depending on the particular role chosen, student experiences may include peer-leadership, fundraising, communications and public relations, or project management. They also gain an opportunity to meet and network with other top high school students and business and community leaders who support the LI mission.
Previous students have created new feeding methods for fish farms in Birshi, developed new water purification methods, taught advanced welding techniques and streamlined tailoring shop assembly lines.
College Search & Application Assistance:
LI staff will help all International Business Alliance Program Members narrow the college list and help to find a perfect match. Because LI staff members have attended a broad range of higher education, institutions, advice and beneficial knowledge will allow students to further understand and develop ideas for their futures.
Leadership Initiatives partners Business Alliance Program students with US based mentors from Leadership Initiatives community of supporters. Many students are partnered with Leadership Initiatives board and advisory members to help navigate them to their future colleges and careers. Potential mentors include the CEOs and vice presidents of Washington DC, Virginia and Maryland’s most successful businesses, top legal experts from across North America, Harvard staff members, former State Department directors, Georgetown Professors, NASA scientists, Federal Law Enforcement Officers and more.
With many colleges and universities requiring letters of recommendation from student supporters, LI staff offers program participants two extra letters of recommendation, furthering information about each student while allowing college admissions to see a non-academic side of the student and the benefits of extra-curricular activities within the balanced life of the student. Written specifically for each individual, the recommendation is guaranteed to enhance the qualities of each student, while separate the application from the rest.
Letters of Recommendation are written by LI mentors and the business leaders the students partner with. Relationships between students and these individuals are developed for 18 plus months allowing each to grow and learn about the other. This guarantees each letter of recommendation highlights who the student is as an individual and what they have achieved by being a part of the International Business Alliance Program. Each letter showcases the problems the student worked to solve and the lives he/she worked to transform.
