Global Young Innovators Initiative
Parks Unity Restaurant Business
It is our mission to positively impact every person that we can. In Bauchi, we plan to help foster the growth of a local business and make this business’s service more accessible to the community. This opportunity will allow us to help more than just our local community, but a community across the world who needs our help. We are a hardworking group with the goal of making the restaurant efficient enough to serve a multitude of people and prosper for generations.
Our group will assist Deborah Obaluhan scale and develop her restaurant. Not only will the scaling of Ms. Obaluhan’s restaurant help improve her and her family’s lives, it will also enrich the lives of those in her community. We will work with Ms. Obaluhan to advertise her restaurant and bring more business in. This will lead to the creation of more jobs and allowing more people access to proper nourishment.
When people receive these jobs, they will be able to send more of their children to school. This will further the quality of people’s lives by increasing the amount of literate and educated people in Nigeria. People will also be benefitted through the meals that are prepared. The meals will improve the health of the community, which will cause people to be able to function at their full potential. Nutrition is a basic human need, so when people do not have to worry about when their next meal will be, they can take care of larger problems.
See how each day at the summit we are gaining new skills to assist our business partner and transform lives.

Story of the Business:
Deborah has always been a great cook and has always been told so by many. She loves cooking and has always helped friends and family to cook during birthday or wedding celebrations. She seeks to turn this into a profit making business for herself. She looks forward to the adventure of owning her own business and bringing more income home for her children. Deborah has been a widow for over 10 years now. Life has been difficult for her and her 5 children who she has struggled to ensure all get an education. The difficulties they face has been due to a lack of adequate financial income for her to meet their daily needs. Her meagre teacher’s salary does very little for her and thus her desire to own a restaurant to help her and her children with the rising cost of living. She is very excited at the opportunity presented to her with Leadership Initiatives.
Deborah has always been a generous person even though she has so little. She looks forward to providing exceptional services to the people of her local community and even employing as many as she needs and she can help to be a part of her business.
How We Are Transforming Unity Restaurant Business
And Changing The World
Our group has redefined Unity by broadening its advertising options and thereby expanding its customer base. We have done this by creating new flyers and social media accounts to spread the word about the restaurant by taking advantage of the growing Internet community in Nigeria as well as the densely populated streets of Bauchi. In addition we have created custom t-shirts for the employees to wear as well as sell, which will not only make the restaurant appear more professional, but will also serve as a way to gain recognition for Unity around the area. We have also invested in a radio advertisement to gain customers from a wider area. With these new tools at her disposal, we hope that Mrs. Obalohun’s business will be able to attract new customers, giving her the funds that she needs to expand her catering and delivery business or possibly franchising.
