Our mission captures the essence of dedication and divergent thinking, both of which are vital to positively impacting innovating communities around the world. We want to inspire others to find their inner beauty, starting in the developing community of Bauchi, Nigeria. Our goal focuses on prospering Beauty Zone by Rita Michael, a salon that specializes in hair and make-up. Through working together to improve Rita’s business, we believe that her salon will draw people to feel beautiful inside and out.
Providing a more stable and efficient plan for our business partner is our central focus. Through several improvements to advertising, as well as providing methods for cutting down on expenses, our group will allow for the stability and expansion needed for her business to provide more jobs for the community. Although stressful and demanding, we believe that working with Leadership Initiatives will ultimately be a welcoming and worthwhile endeavor.
Our group became interested in Rita’s business because we admire her goal to create more jobs, which, in turn, will help the economy in Nigeria. The economic crisis in Nigeria has been continually growing, making job availabilities scarce. By helping Rita expand and evolve her business, we will be opening new doors for those without jobs.
We believe in our mission statement because we have commitment, dedication, and open-mindedness to work together to help Rita Michael with her makeup business. Rita Michael’s business is providing jobs for people in her community. We believe that helping this business to solve its problems will benefit Rita Michael, her business, and the employees.

Story of the Business:
Rita began the make-up business as an undergraduate in university. She had always loved to make people look nice. She started out by simply preparing her friends for class, parties, weddings and other events. She was inspired when she read about a female Nigerian business tycoon Tara Fela-durotoye, who is currently making millions from the beauty industry she started just by making up friends, in a magazine. In 2013, Rita officially turned her knack into a business. Rita Michael is a 24 year old graduate. She is the first born of her family. She has always been a very creative young lady and her creativity has given her an advantage in her business. She has been able to glamorize quite a number of brides for their weddings and has even travelled to neighbouring states for other brides. Rita is a very driven young lady and her great and distinctive touch has given her several business referrals from her old clients.
Rita has been able to train others and some young friends in the same business, and has been able to help with the education of two of her siblings.

Our solutions revolve around the three Cs: clean, concise, and cost-efficient. By revamping Beauty Zone’s look from messy to minimalistic, we can project that Rita can save money and effort.
To elucidate, Beauty Zone’s initial business card portrayed its blue logo over a flashy pink background. Due to its colorful manner, the business cards cost more because it takes more ink to print; however, through minimizing the colors in her business card while still keeping the same information would save Rita approximately 30% on her business card funds. The same look transfers onto her flyers, shirts, and coupons; thus, her new look is neat, easy to read, and affordable. Furthermore, by proposing discounts towards clients who bring their friends requesting Rita’s service, Beauty Zone would increasingly expand in customer demand, since her promotions lure people into her studio. Moreover, Rita’s skills in teaching aesthetics to others provides her more profit due to the many students who pay the sessions in order to learn from her.
Through our ideas, Rita’s business will create a domino effect, starting with one person and reaching all the way out to her country. Our pitch will gain Rita more profit, which allows her to hire more employees to assist her in her business. Once she retains more people to train for her business, the more she can hire. When Beauty Zone begins expanding in service and employees, she will alleviate the economy in her community because more people would have jobs because of her. We believe that our ideas will transform not only Rita’s life, but also the lives of those around her.
