Global Young Innovators Initiative
Tesla Homemade/Local Fragrance Making Business Team
It is our mission in this program, as well as in life, to better ourselves, our communities, and to enforce positive change in the world we live in. Such tasks can only be accomplished by working efficiently and effectively alongside our peers, as well as implementing creativity, determination, and hard work into our daily lives. We strive to become better leaders in our lives so we can bring about change, readily approach challenges, and accomplish our goals.
We are very fortunate to have been granted the opportunity to help grow and improve the business of our Nigerian partner. We are especially excited about working in the fragrance business, as fragrance is something commonly encountered, as well as greatly enjoyed, where we live. Being residents of the US and Canada, we are accustomed to using these products in a number of fashions: for self-treatment, for selling and trading, and even for exchanging as gifts. We feel that it is fascinating to explore both the similarities and differences between the Nigerian fragrance business and the one we are familiar with. We are honored to work with Bilkisu and to help improve her company for the long term.
As students and scholars, we are constantly learning, exploring new concepts, and assisting our peers and our community. We are all extremely grateful for the opportunity to further broaden our horizons, experience something new, and to provide assistance to a business in the developing world. Above all else, we hope to help our business partner, Bilkisu, grow her fragrance company and be successful in her work. If we are creative, innovative, dedicated, committed to our work, and most importantly work together, we will be able to accomplish these goals and drive positive change into the business.
See how each day at the summit we are gaining new skills to assist our business partner and transform lives.

Story of the business
Bilkisu is a twenty year old woman, who just finished her final exams in secondary school. After graduating, Bilkisu decided to use her experience with perfumes and open up a business; she has been more successful than she anticipated, prompting her to continue expanding her business. With the revenue from her business, Bilkisu is able to support her family while being able to provide for herself.
Fragrances are usually very costly, making it an exclusive commodity. Bilkisu sells her fragrances at subsidized prices in order to let everyone have access to her products. This strategy has made Bilkisu a favorite within her community. Moreover, she also hopes to expand her business so that she will be able to hire more employees and provide them with a stable income and a better future.
