Personal Story of Abubakar Muhammed, an employee of Umar’s Plaster of Paris:
Abubakar Muhammed is a 23 year old young man who is has been studying Crime Management in Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic (ATAP), Bauchi for over 2 years now.
Abubakar stays with his parents. He and Umar have been friends for a long time. He had always admired the POP work that Umar does and since he had some prior training of the skill he asked Umar for an employment opportunity with him.
While working with Umar, he learnt more about the skill and is now one of Umar’s best employees. He also makes enough to help his parents and take full responsibility of his education
>Personal Story of Name:Aminu Muhammed, a child attending school:
Aminu Muhammed , a 26 year old young man began working with Umar in 2013. A month after he began the job, he told Umar about his desire to further his education.
Umar sought to help in get admission to a higher institution, though this was quiet difficult because Aminu’s secondary school final results were really poor. After much efforts Umar got him into a Remedial school, which he is presently in.
This completely changed his life as he is proud to be in the higher institution. Aminu’s parents are not so well to do, so he helps them with whatever he makes from his POP jobs.
Personal Story of Dr. Muhammad, Umar’s Plaster of Paris Customer:
Dr. Muhammad is one of Umar’s favorite clients. The Doctor gave them a work to do in his house in Maiduguri some years ago. Umar and his boys did a great job. The Doctor was so impressed that he was extravagant with their welfare while they were in Maiduguri.
Umar particularly enjoyed working for him because he took great care of them in Maiduguri. After they finished the work, he them fully and also even paid for their transportation back to Bauchi.
Later on Dr. Muhammad offered them another work in Maiduguri but because of the deteriorated security situation of Borno state Umar and his employees has to decline the offer.
Personal Story of Mubarak Ahmed, Orphan supported by the Umar’s Plaster of Paris:
Mubarak Ahmed was one of the boys that lived in Umar’s former neighborhood. He was skilled in POP designs so Umar employed him since he already knew that skill.
Mubarak lost his father some years ago and though he was working he had stopped going to school. Umar advised him to return to school to complete his education. He heeded Umar’s advice and decided to rewrite his WAEC papers.
After he writes his exams, Mubarak plans to seek admission in a polytechnic to get his Diploma.
Story of Hajiya Hauwa Lawal, a supporter of Umar’s Plaster of Paris:
Hajiya Hauwa Lawal is Umar’s elder sister. From the beginning of his training on the POP trade, she has been of enormous help to him. She has encouraged him and supported him continuously.
When he was learning this skill, she would always give him money to transport himself to his place of training and when he even began working, she still assisted him when he needed finances.
Hajiya is also is Business partner. In times between jobs, when he is yet to get contracts to make POP designs; he sells perfumes, lovely traditional attires and shoes with her so he could make some extra money while seeking new POP jobs.

1. His major challenge is the seasonal nature of his work, as he does not get jobs frequently, sometimes it takes 6 months or more for him to get another job after finishing with one.
2. He has a lot of competition as a lot of people who are far skilled at POP designs are into the business in the Bauchi community.
3. He needs newer and better designs that will make him stand out among his competition.
