Jocelyne Uy

Jocelyne was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Much of her love of professional sports comes from having the good fortune of living in several great sport centered cities (San Francisco, Chicago, Windsor/Detroit and now Las Vegas) during championship seasons.

The knowledge she gained from watching the great coaches and teams serves as the foundation for her Mock Trial and Moot Court coaching style. For the last 6 years, Jocelyne has coached Faith Lutheran High School’s award-winning Mock Trial and Moot Court teams. Both teams have earned several individuals and team awards under her leadership.

Along with coaching, Jocelyne also serves as the Faith Lutheran High School Justice & Advocacy Academy Director. The academy is designed to sharpen skills in students with a passion for justice and changing the world. The academy provides real-life experiences to inspire and prepare students for university programs in law, political science, and criminal justice. Every day, Jocelyne feels fortunate that she has the opportunity to work within her two passions: education and the law.

Jocelyne currently teaches courses in Composition: Persuasion & Argument, Trial Advocacy, Appellate Advocacy, Trial Practice, and Forensic Science. She has previously taught courses in Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Creative Writing, and AP Comparative Government & Politics.

Jocelyne is a member of the State Bars of Nevada and Michigan; having earned her Juris Doctorate of Law from the University of Detroit Mercy, School of Law. Jocelyne also earned her Honors Bachelors of Arts from the University of Toronto with a double major in Political Science and Criminology and minor in Sociology. In addition, she completed a Certification in Law Enforcement Administration at the University of Toronto and an Advance Certification in Public Administration at Ryerson Polytechnical University. A life-long learner, Jocelyne also has a Masters in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix.

Despite being a recipient of numerous national teaching awards, Jocelyne will proudly tell you that the greatest award she continues to receive is when past students return to share their accomplishments and the ways they are changing the world.
