Our partners work closely with us to provide training for community leaders worldwide with the goal of ultimately turning their ideas for community change into business development projects.
In return, we provide our partners with positive PR, high visibility on sponsored promotional campaigns and fundraisers, and the opportunity to increase partner morale by working cohesively to help leaders around the world break barriers and transform their communities.
Leadership Initiatives Partner Since 2010
GlobalGiving is a charity fundraising web site and evaluation nonprofit that gives social entrepreneurs and non-profits from anywhere in the world a chance to raise the money that they need to improve their communities. Since 2002, GlobalGiving has raised $146,164,841 from 396,661 donors who have supported 10,454 projects.
GlobalGiving evaluates nonprofits through visits by in-country teams of evaluators, and references by a large network of funders and experts in the field.
GlobalGiving was created by Mari Kuraishi and Dennis Whittle who left the World Bank to open up the enormous potential of a global marketplace for philanthropy that could be open year round and operated virtually.
Leadership Initiatives has raised over $1,000,000 through GlobalGiving’s website and in 2013 won it coveted Best All Around Nonprofit. This is awarded to a high performing fundraiser that was exceptionally engaged in GlobalGiving Programs.
Leadership Initiatives raised more than $185,000 through individual donations and matching in 2013 and demonstrated remarkable engagement by participating in GlobalGiving’s Leadership Council and first-ever Online Fundraising Academy and by acting as a webinar guest host, among other things.
GlobalGiving has helped Leadership Initiatives gain partnerships with organizations like Microsoft through their YouthSpark program and board members from Exxon and the Pentagon.
Nigerian Embassy in Washington DC
Leadership Initiatives Partner Since 2009
The Nigerian Embassy in Washington DC hopes to bring to the US and its homeland economic growth, cultural understanding and long lasting partnerships.
Nigeria is famous for her huge population of about 150 million people – the largest national population on the African continent.
Due to Nigeria’s growing population a strong focus in the education and economic sector has begun in the last two decades, the coloration and quality of the Nigerian work force has changed to include a large corps of highly trained personnel in mechanical, civil, electrical, electronics, chemical and petroleum engineering and biotechnics.
Because of this new focus Leadership Initiatives has partnered with the Nigerian Embassy for five major fundraising events since 2009 alone. These events have raised money and awareness for development projects within Bauchi State, Nigeria.
Guests have included as the last two US Ambassadors to Nigeria (Sanders and Jeter), The First Ladies of Bauchi and Kogi State, leaders from GlobalGiving, the International Youth Foundation and more.
International Youth Foundation
Leadership Initiatives Partner Since 2007
The International Youth Foundation (IYF) believes that educated, employed, and engaged young people possess the power to solve the world’s toughest problems.
Every young person, therefore deserves the opportunity to realize his or her full potential. IYF programs are catalysts for change that help youth learn, work, and lead.
Since 1990, IYF has mobilized over US$200 million in resources to expand the opportunities for the world’s youth by helping to fund programs and partnerships with 472 youth-serving organizations worldwide.
In 2007 Leadership Initiatives become a Laureate Global Fellow. Which are given to young founders/CEOs who have pioneered cutting-edge solutions to urgent societal challenges
Sponsored by the Sylvan/Laureate Foundation, the Fellowship recognizes 20 leaders, ages 18 to 29, annually. Fellow projects are distinguished by their innovative approaches, their proven track records for success, and their potential to be sustainable over the long-term.
Since receiving the Laureate Global Fellowship, the International Youth Foundation has assisted Leadership Initiatives in receiving grants, sponsorships, partners and more!
Georgetown Center For Social Justice
Leadership Initiatives Partner Since 2007
The Center for Social Justice Research, Teaching and Service (CSJ) opened its doors in January 2001.
The Center has a mission that is simple to state but far-reaching in its implications: In order to advance justice and the common good, CSJ promotes and integrates community-based research, teaching and service by collaborating with diverse partners and communities.
Since 2007 Leadership Initiatives has partnered with multiple classes from the CSJ.
In that time students have helped Leadership Initiatives develop better cobbling, tailoring, fish farming and welding businesses.
Students have helped create and institutionalize Leadership Initiatives Orphan Independence and Skills Program and built a great communications network between Leadership Initiatives and its donors.
In 2012 Leadership Initiatives received the prestigious Outstanding Community Partner Award from the Center for Social Justice.

GreatNonprofits is a place to find trustworthy nonprofits.
Their mission is to inspire and inform donors and volunteers, enable nonprofits to show their impact, and promote greater feedback and transparency.
Since its founding in 2007, GreatNonprofits has quickly grown into the leading provider of reviews and ratings of nonprofit organizations throughout the U.S.
GreatNonprofits review methodology takes into account the diversity of the nonprofit sector; thus we host reviews of groups of all different shapes and sizes and types from the smallest grassroots groups operating on the local level, to the large regional, national and international organizations.
Leadership Initiatives has received GreatNonprofits Top Rated Nonprofit Award for the DC area since 2011 and has had more than 30 perfect reviews by leaders in the nonprofit field.
Leadership Initiatives Partner Since 2014
Envision is a leading experiential education organization dedicated to enabling students of all ages to explore their interests and gain learning experiences beyond the classroom.
In 2012, Envision EMI merged with LeadAmerica to create the Envision Experience, a comprehensive offering of programs to help students develop the leadership, scholarship and career skills needed to succeed in today’s competitive college and career landscape.
The Global Young Innovators Initiative
The Global Young Innovators Initiative, an Envision Program being held on the campus of Harvard University, is a six-day summit held in partnership with Leadership Initiatives, an international non-governmental organization (NGO) that approaches the problems of underdevelopment by empowering communities to address their own needs through focused education and local financing.
This unique conference, which is held exclusively for alumni of Envision programs as well as select international students, brings together some of the brightest young minds from around the world to study and develop solutions for existing and emerging global issues while acquiring the skills necessary to lead the next generation of creative problem solvers and innovative thinkers.
