About the Owner:In 2008, Leadership Initiatives helped Abdulhadi to transform his family’s lives after his participation and completion of Leadership Initiatives’ training programs. As the eldest son of his late father, the responsibility of caring for his family had fallen upon him, and he had no way of providing a sustainable income; however, because of Abdulhadi’s strong leadership skills, LI brought him into the Business Creation Program. LI provided him with business management training and worked to help him develop his idea for a tailoring business.
Once funding for his business had been acquired, Leadership Initiatives was able to provide a tailoring apprenticeship by hiring an experienced tailor to train him and his team. Abdulhadi started his business in 2009 and he eventually became able to take care of his family’s needs, and send some of his siblings to school.
In 2014 Abdulhadi is participating in the Leadership Initiatives Business Expansion program and is expanding his business into new markets. As his knowledge and skills in the tailoring business have grown, so has his customer base, resulting in a higher income for his employees and himself. He now employs 6 people, and says that he and his family will always be grateful for the assistance they received in turning their lives around.
Nicole Melamed, Project Lead/Media Chair/Nigeria Partnership Chair:
My name is Nikki M. and I am a senior in Los Angeles, California. During the school year, I strive to achieve academic success through my participation in Advanced Placement classes.
I am also an active participant in extracurricular activities such as National Honor Society, a volunteer at local animal shelters, a literacy volunteer at my local library, as well as a musician in the Symphonic Band of my high school.
At other times, I can be found helping out a charity known as the Police Action League in Los Angeles, which is a charity that provides mentorship programs and a variety of other services to students in low income areas.
I am thrilled and very grateful to be working with the International Business Alliance Program, as I was lucky enough to work with GYII over the summer. I cannot wait to gain valuable experience and promote change in a way that can positively impact others on a global scale.

My family comes from Armenia, and form them I learned to value charity and dedication. I am ecstatic to be working with our Nigerian business partners in the textile industry and learning life lessons about helping others and positively impacting society.

I have participated in my school’s choir for 8 years and my high school’s musicals for two years.
I am very excited to be working with the International Business Alliance Program and with my friends. I am also very excited to learn all the valuable lessons that this business program will teach me. Working with this business program is a new and exciting experience for me and I am eager to learn.
1. Leadership Initiatives operates with extremely low overhead: almost every penny you donate goes directly to programming.
2. Every dollar we raise serves two purposes:
In the short term, community leaders create solutions to local problems that maximize existing community resources. In the long term, Leadership Initiatives builds honest, self-reliant generations of leaders who are equipped to empower entire nations.
3. The community development initiatives our students produce results which are completely self-sustaining and which continue compounding and growing with no outside funding.
