Story of the Business:
Learning how to repair little faulty mechanical and electrical items has always been a flair for Khalid. Because most young men in his neighborhood would learn a skill after secondary school education, Khalid decided to learn how to repair and maintain power generators. Being that he had always loved to work with electrical and mechanical things, he became very good at it in just a short while.
Khalid opened up his own shop 3 years ago and employed quite a number of boys over the years, some of whom have gone to open their own shops. Today, he has about 4 employees, all who are doing very well. The repair business is not only a source of income for him and his employees, but is also a place of refuge for many of the young men, keeping them from drifting off into other vices.
Khalid is the second son of his parents. He has 7 siblings, most of whom had to learn a skill after their secondary school education because of the lack of funds to finance their university education. Khalid began learning how to repair power generators about 4 years ago and, because of his flair for mechanical devices, picked up the skill quickly. Over the years, the income he has made has given him the opportunity to help his mother with some of his siblings. He has also gotten married and has two children. The income from the business has been very helpful for not only him, but also his family, his friends, his employees and their families. Khalid has been able to teach many others the same skill. He is very grateful for the opportunities provided to him by the business.
Khalid’s business has kept many young boys off the streets, thus keeping them from being nuisances in the community.
