To empower the community through a local tailoring initiative by creating jobs, teaching new skills, and creating affordable, efficient services for customers.Story of the business
Hadisu Fashion Designs was created to provide the Yelwa community with affordable and functional attire for both men and women. On top of that, it also strives to hire and train local young adults, especially women, so that they can become financially independent. An additional mission of the business is to teach current employees the skills needed to open new shops in nearby communities, so that the business can expand. Abdulhadi has recently launched a new line of locally inspired dress patterns, and he is already seeing a huge demand for them. Community Impact:
With the assistance of Leadership Initiatives, Abdulhadi was able to establish a tailoring business. He now employs five main employees and fifteen apprentices, including local orphans, secondary school students, and even undergraduate and graduate degree holders who wanted to have a career in the tailoring business.
These achievements have given Abdulhadi confidence and recognition from the community as a role model. Abdulhadi has used the income he earns from the business to go back to college, and fund six of his siblings’ educations as well. Abdulhadi has said that Leadership Initiatives’ intervention has brought him success in his life and has been an amazing experience.Through Abdulhadi’s tailoring business, young members of the Yelwa Makaranta community have changed their lives. Many young adults had previously had difficulty finding employment, at times (and perhaps inevitably) becoming involved in criminal activities that posed threats to the community. Since the creation of Hadisu Fashion Design, many of these young people have become employed and empowered. In addition to gaining a marketable skill set, these youth have become a source of hope for their peers and the elders of the community.
Like what we do, help us bring in experts to train emerging business owners in the developing word!!!
