Through the help provided by the Leadership Initiatives Business Expansion Program, Hamza has recently been able to expand his welding services to a new village.
Personal Story of Kabiru Ibrahim, an employee of Hazma’s Welding Shop:
Kabiru Ibrahim is in his 3rd year in high school and also one of the employees of Hamza welding. Kabiru is pretty thrilled at the opportunity he has to learn the welding skill and also to be able to make some little income for himself. After school every day Kabiru runs to the welding shop to help out in any way he can, though his responsibilities are still limited to the level of his training in the welding skill, Kabiru is very much happy to be a part of the team.
Prior to his welding training opportunity; he stayed home with his parents with no possibility of affording an education. But now, he gets paid a little stipend for his services and his education is also taken care of. For this Kabiru and his parents are very grateful.
Kabiru hopes to become very good at welding someday soon; that he’ll be able to take on more tasking jobs and also make more money to be able to give back to his family and his community.
Personal Story of Abba Ibrahim, a child attending school:
Abba Ibrahim 9, though still a youth and very young, Abba because of the difficulty faced in his family and the challenges of finances Abba sought to work so he could help himself and possibly his family.
After he met with LI’s welding beneficiary; Hamza, things changed for him. Hamza paid for his education and presently he is in primary school. Prior to his work with Hamza, Abba had it really thorough with life, with no hope of any change until he was helped by Hamza.
With the little stipends that he gets from working with Hamza, he can take care of some of his little needs and be less of a burden to his parents.
Personal Story of Engineer Kwaga, Welding Customer:
Engineer Kwaga is one of Hamza’s foremost customers. He met Hamza about 3 years ago when he came to Oga Sani (Hamza’s boss’) workshop to do a work. Since Oga Sani was not around, Hamza offer to help him with the welding work. Kwaga was so impressed with the quality of the job Hamza did for him that ever since then every time he had a welding job to do he would always seek Hamza, and if he could not find him he would wait till his return to do the job.
This began the long and great relationship between Hamza and the Engineer, after that he took Hamza to weld some burglar proof (window bars) for him in his hospital and he was equally impressed with the work.
For over 3 years now the Engineer has brought all his welding work to Hamza and also refereed others to him for other welding jobs.
Personal Story of Habu Zakari, Orphan supported by the Welding Shop
Habu Zakari is a 17 year old boy in secondary school. He lost his father a few years earlier and since then he’s been living with his elder brother; the first son of the family. He met Hamza about 2 years earlier and since then his life has taken a new turn.
Hamza financed his education and now he is in his 2nd year in high school. Habu started school late because of the loss of his father and the financial inability of his mother. But with the help of Hamza and his elder brother, Habu is now a student and he makes some money from the little work he does with Hamza.
Though Habu is not making enough yet to take on bigger tasks of helping his mother and his young siblings, but he is able to carter for his basic needs and sees a future where he will be skilled enough to handle bigger welding jobs and earn more money and ultimately open his own welding business some day. All thanks to LI and Hamza.
Personal Story of Oga Sani, an investor in Hamza’s Welding Shop:
Oga Sani trained Hamza on all he knows about welding. Hamza was trained under Sani for a year and two months.
Hamza got some of the people who are presently patronizing his business while he was working with Sani. Sani has been an intrigal part of Hamza’s success and forward movement.
Hamza has gotten this far through the initial and continual support and help of his trainer Sani.
Hamza’s Welding Shop has been partnered with:
1. Hamza seeks to learn new advertising skills that will help him enlarge his customer size and thus have larger patronage.
2. To learn better and new deigns of gates and windows that will make him stand out among his competitors if he got these designs.
3. Lack of financial management skills.
