OUR PROGRAMS

Leadership Initiatives has been committed to community-led projects since the organization’s founding over 15 years ago. We began working directly with communities in 2003 at a grassroots level, where we believe development has the greatest impact. It is in these communities where women, men, and youth can discover their voice, assert their rights, and mobilize action to achieve their aspirations.

PARTNERSHIP

Community leaders, students, change makers, and entrepreneurs partner together to tackle the most pressing issues in development, public health, and human rights.

Leadership Initiatives provides small cash transfer, rather than a loan, to give stakeholders a kick-start in building a sustainable project and improving their community's standard of living.

Mentorship and monitoring go hand in hand when trying to make real change. Leadership Initiatives works with individuals for two to five years to provide equity in our training.

DARING TO DREAM

Abigail Adamu thought she would die by the age of 35. She lived in constant fear her husband would beat her so violently that her children would find her dead. With no money, she fled her husband with her five children. After partnering with Leadership Initiatives, she now runs a restaurant that provides enough to afford food, schooling, and housing for her family, as well as the four orphaned children she now supports with her profits.
